The Emersons are a family of musicians – little Ken’s first

ukulele was the same one his mother played at the 1939

World’s Fair in San Francisco. In the mid 1960s Ken became

absorbed with the legendary San Francisco Sound, and was

much in demand for his skill on the bottleneck and steel

guitar. He then moved to Hawaii where he rediscovered his

musical roots – which turned out to be a vibrant source of

inspiration Over the years, Ken Emerson has performed as

sideman for almost every well-known Hawaiian musician.
